The Fab Five Arrives! The Tiresome Two-Vamoose! January 3, 2008

The duly elected Cloverdale Town Council met last night at 7:00pm for an executive meeting (top secret, hush hush) followed by a special meeting at 7:30.

There was a palpable difference in the room noticed by many of the regular townfolk attendees.  For those of you who atttended the January meeting of  ‘aught six when Don Sublett took over the chair, you will remember a major shift in the tone of the meeting.  Davis had lost his iron grip of control over what was discussed and who was allowed to talk.  It was as though a veil was lifted and sunshine started peaking through.  The meanness was gone.  Sublett got a loud ovation from the audience.

Well, last night, the palpable difference was the total lack of tension in the room.  There was a comfort level felt and commented upon by several attendees post meeting.  It wasn’t so much because the Tiresome Two were not there, although that  helped.  In my opinion (and this is all my opinion, after all), it was because of the leadership sitting at the table is basically all on the same page and they TRUST each other.

The last two years have been up and down with the Board because there was no trust in the words spoken or the intentions upon which they were spoken.  The two factions believed the other party was scheming, lying, leaving out some of the facts and even pitting the workers  one side over the other.  But, last night, there was none of that stuff emanating from the table and crossing over to the audience.   For those of you who attended the meeting, you can say you were there the night of the Paradigm Shift of ‘aught eight…

Meetings tonight at 7 and 7:30.  Nice blog at the Banner by Maribeth Ward about Zippy.

Believe it or not, I have read some of the blogs besides Zippy’s since the Banner moved forward with their new and improved website.  Maribeth is an excellent writer and a woman of good taste who is able to express herself about the human element.   You need to go back in time and read her Nov. 27th blog about aging.  Very personal and very poignant.

Big question is who will cover the Cloverdale beat?  Of course, it probably won’t be as sexy or wacky as the last couple of years, but one never knows….

No gauntlet to cross, so welcome aboard.  Shall it be Josie or Maribeth or Been There, Done That Adam or Dame Lisa herself?  (not likely as they have both put in time.)  Speaking of wacky, send us KB, the Blogger.   I am almost inspired to work on my own Top 10 Reasons to Look Forward to 2008.  Loved KB’s 7, hated 6.   I just don’t think he could be boring enough to write straight news…
