2007 is a big election year for Cloverdale… January 11, 2007

Is this the year of change for Cloverdale? 2007 is election year and 4 members of the Town Council and the Clerk Treasurer are ending their terms. They are President Don Sublett, Judy Whitaker, John Davis, and Glen Vickroy and Clerk Patty Truax.

Only Dennis Padgett, who ran unopposed last year is secure.

Dennis represents the south area, which is south of Boone Street.

Who will run to represent the central section which runs north of Boone to the south side of Robert Weist Ave./Cemetery Road?

Who will run to represent the north section which is north of Robert Weist Avenue/Cemetery Road including the large Stardust Hills area as well as the annexed area from the Stop the Quarry days. The northern boundary is Beagle Club Road.

In addition to those areas, there are also two slots for At-Large representatives. Who will run for those spots?

Who will run for Clerk Treasurer which is the most lucrative position?

And most importantly: WHO WILL WIN?

This is a pivotal year for the citizens to determine their future as the current Board is very divided. The two polar opposite groups (based on voting patterns) are Padgett, Vickroy and Sublett who often vote the same against Davis and Whitaker who almost always vote together. This has not always been this way. Over the last couple of years, Padgett, Vickroy, and Sublett have started out mostly voting with Davis and Whitaker. As time went on, one by one, they moved apart from them on important issues until the current pattern emerged.
